Use my 110 CT For...

Postby Bob on Tue Aug 12, 2008 11:25 am

I found my 110 CT again, nicely stored ina alu case. I also found the HDD with Windows XP installed and it booted!

But now I want some other use for my Libretto. maybe install Linux on it or someting. Maybe use it for video playback or play some games.

Where do you use your libretto for?

Hi afther i found this nice forum with google it would be nice to join, i'm also the owner of the folowing series
U100,110ct,100ct and 70CT.

The use of the 110CT for me was DOS program's and windows applications.
I use dos more my very old games quake, duke3d, lemmings, wolf3d etc but also play music mp3 (underdos) mod s3m xm it music files something like midi music at that time of the 386 486 computers i was more grownup with the 8088 and the 80286 PC's. A DOS background will never leave me heheh :) Its also why put these old stuff on the libretto.

I use windows 98se for programming for micro controllers in electric circuits to do there tasks example drive a steppermotor or control a lcd HD44780 controller, application programaming in C++ for windows and programming for CNC LASER cutting using G -CODES to creat a product from metalsheet it also tobe apart of my job just writing codinatings in x and y and execute the program on the trumph laser machine to create the programed product.
Other purpose use is viewing small mpeg movi's and playing mp3 files.

I use my 70ct for setting up wireless networks. I use it with a 16bit Ethernet card and cable to program the router.

I'm working on setting it up with a GPS unit for the car to find clients houses.

I'm still experimenting with video playback in Linux with mixed results on the 70ct.

I have a lot of Linux games loaded, but there are limitations to what games can be played because of the screen being 800x480. It can cut off the bottom of the game!

My current project is programming it to use the 70 as a voice recorder for taking notes.

That souns like a good idea, about the voice recording. Maybe you can post a brief how-to, inlcuding the software you used, etc?

Certainly.

I plan on modding the Libretto as well with a small mic into (most likely) the LCD casing.

Well, I got lucky and a friend gave 2 little 110ct in repay of hd recovery I made for him since he had no money.... one was ok except for the battery life is gone and the other works but no display(and no battery life either). I use mine lately for reading pdf in bed and listen to mp3, and some lite web browsing too. I have installed xp, windows 2000 but have had no luck on any flavor of Linux. The only distro that kinda worked was puppy but could not get the wireless card to work and frozed alot(kinda newbie on linux really). I read that elive works pretty snappy on a Ubuntu forum but never got it to work.

Hi All !

I just started this group, good to have More Libretto activity.
I have had CT110 many years, running WIN95 and DOS.
I made my Libby as GPS monitor in my boat, using Seaclear.
Also Libby is quite good as photo album, screen size is near standard photo sizes.
I have been planning to uppgrade WIN95 to WIN98 because of USB support.
That will happen near future.

Best Regards
