To recover the TOSHIBA factory W95/W98 - all you need is:

- a w98 boot diskette. (DOS is good as well but does not handle fat32 => 2GB partition limit)
- usual tools like fdisk or the freeware XFDISK if the HD was not partitionned before.
- the FORMAT programm. Just format the partition - no sys or /S neded.
- the toshiba F3DCHK.EXE utility (from the recover CD)
- the recovery archive, also on CD. For example, L110GRC1.W98 (312MB!) for german recovery of win98.

Where to put this big file?
- on a CD >> one needs a pcmcia cdrom drive and DOS drivers on the boot diskette
- on a USB-stick >> i've read some people managed to get DOS drivers for USB/pcmcia. Never done it myself.
- on a second partition of the HD

Boot the diskette, and run
F3DCHK <sourcepath> <destination_drive> ==> this drive must be totally empty!
for example F3DCHK d:\xxxxpathxxxx\L110GRC1.W98 C:

F3dchk will expand the archive, and at next boot, you'll have a factory fresh Toshiba OEM Win98 with all drivers installed.
PS: you will have to enter a licence number..
